Bonclarken First ARP Rock Hill and Bonclarken

onclarken and First ARP Rock Hill (SC) have had a long and vibrant relationship. Every-
thing we as a conference center could ask of one of our ARP churches, First Rock Hill does for us. We are so blessed by our relationship with this wonderful church. The tragic deaths in April 2021 of
First ARP Rock Hill members Robert and Barbara Lesslie and their grand- children Ada and Noah Lesslie are still fresh in the memory of the mem- bers of the church. In February 2021, two months prior to his death, Robert visited with me to share that he and
their family wanted to donate and install several swings on our grounds. He and I spent some time in my golf cart that cold February day identifying locations for these swings. In the fall of 2021, three of Robert and Barbara’s children came to Bonclarken to learn the locations Robert had selected for the swings. The chil- dren wanted to be sure to honor their dad’s wish that these swings be installed. However, the members of First ARP Rock Hill stepped in and asked the Lesslie children if the church could install these swings as a group project dur- ing their October 2023 church weekend here at Bonclarken. The family gra- ciously agreed and, under the leadership of life-long First ARP Rock Hill mem- ber and Bonclarken Board of Trustees member Max Smith, the church took on this project. Max shared with me that “our church wanted to bring about Robert’s wish that

Max and several friends built the swings beforehand, and then, on a crisp October Saturday morning, numerous members of First ARP Rock Hill installed the northeast corner of our lake. fantastic and will be enjoyed by generations of Bonclarken guests.
