witness accounts, as well as photos and videos taken over the span of many years, depict wild horses along with elk, deer, and cattle drink- ing peacefully together at the waterholes. Even when water resourc- es are low, there is no evidence of guarding by the wild horses.
If the myth were true, the horses would have to remain in the areas of water sources in order to watch over and guard them. But that is not the case. Their strong, beautiful hooves are testimony to the truth. Hooves do not become tough by standing around guarding waterholes. Sometimes it just takes a little “horse sense” to see the truth through the myths. Horse hooves grow. Not even when water sources are low do wild horses prevent other animals from drinking.
Heber Wild Horses Freedom Preservation Alliance is an independent grassroots advocacy group fighting to keep the Heber wild horse herd wild, free, and free roaming in the Sitgreaves National Forest since 2005. For more information please go to https://www.facebook. com/HeberWildHorses.
