While most areas are expected to see above normal temperatures this summer, sustained extreme heat is not expected. As far as precipitation is concerned, another drier than normal summer is expected across the western United States, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. The driest conditions are expected in the Pacific Northwest during July and August.

Precipitation forecast — June-August 2019 (A = above normal, B = below normal, N = normal)

The drier than normal weather may reach into the northern Plains and far western Midwest during July, but a wetter than normal August is expected across the eastern Plains, southern Midwest and the Delta. El Niño is expected to be waning by this summer, but if it were to linger longer than expected, somewhat cooler and wetter weather is possible across the Midwest and northern Plains.
