Microirrigation system- 

A good target distribution uniformity for a new system should be above 0.90 regardless of the irrigation system.

• Filter components can be a major part of the cost and maintenance. Chemigation can also be needed to avoid plugging via bacterial growth or chemical precipitation in the laterals and emission devices. Sand media filters are typically recommended for microirrigation systems.

• If root intrusion is a problem, purchase emitters impregnated with Trifluralin or periodically inject Trifluralin into your irrigation water.

• Hose screen washers often introduce a large pressure drop across the entrance to the hose. Ensuring that all blocks of a system are operating at the same pressure is also important. Installing pressure regulators where appropriate can greatly help with this.

Sprinklers

In addition to center pivots, wheel line, hand move, solid set and big gun are all types of sprinkler systems; one common element is that the application rate is typically dictated by the system. Sprinkler spacing, nozzle size and pressure are all generally fixed by the design, which leaves very little flexibility in management options. For some systems, labor and energy costs can be quite large.
