SIR provides CMS with comments on

physician payment In November, SIR submitted a detailed comment letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) responding to its Request for Information on the future of physician payment and alternative care models. The letter suggested ways that CMS could ensure accurate data collection systems are put in place and noted several ongoing SIR initiatives on developing national registries. “We know that the era of fee-for-service is disappearing, and SIR has been out in front providing evidence that IRs deliver high-quality, cost-efficient care across a range of conditions. We know that our patients are relieved when they hear that a minimally invasive treatment option is available to them. During 2016, our society’s efforts in quality and registries will intensify. We are eager to show the value of IR in the big picture of health care reform,” said 2015–2016 SIR President Alan H. Matsumoto, MD, FSIR.
