ANNUAL EQUIPMENT & PRODUCT BUYER’S GUIDE SOD HARVESTERS

Turf Tick Products Turf Tick Big Slab Harvester The Turf Tick Big Slab harvester is specially developed for providing sod for medium-sized projects and installation with a minimum of effort. Laying the slabs is three times faster than with normal rolls and there are fewer seams, so sports play can take place sooner. The moving arms fold the sod on a pallet like a paper chain. Sod thickness is automatically measured and adjusted by sensors and actuators. This computer system also controls slab length, producing either 40-in. slabs, or by using the middle disc coulter, two 20-in. slabs. The cutting capacity is 1800 sq. m per hour; the installation rate is 60 sq. m in 5 minutes. The forklift lowers the slab-loaded pallet to the ground and a new pallet can be placed. The square stacks increase transport efficiency. Operation of the PTO-driven, four-stage, independent pump assembly requires a 2-wheel drive tractor with a minimum of 60 HP and one single-acting hydraulic valve.
