2015–2016 TPI Board of Trustees
Will Nugent I Wonder…
Maybe you’re looking forward to seeing what’s new and innova- tive in this annual Equipment & Product Buyer’s Guide issue as much as I am. Every product is in the Buyer’s Guide because it can make a difference to you and how you run your business.
Each improvement came about because someone listened to you or one of your team; because someone saw a need and said, “I wonder…” I wonder if there’s a way to make it better. Every innovative product began with “I wonder” as the first step.
So please take the time to really check out the Buyer’s Guide. Jot down your ideas, your questions, any problems you’d like to express. You can share those thoughts with the suppliers that you connect with regularly. Then there’s TPI’s 2016 International Education Conference & Field Day in Houston this coming February. You’ll have opportunities to interact with suppliers at the trade show, during the field day product demonstrations and at the social events. Maybe you’ll be the one asking, “I wonder what that product would do for my farm operations?”
Providing innovative products is just one way our suppliers support us. The com- panies listed in the Buyer’s Guide are members of TPI, a part of our association. They support us with their finances—which is certainly important—and we thank them for it. They also support us with their time and talents. Many are serving on committees. Others have backed a project or coordinated activities behind the scenes. So when you have the opportunity to interact with our suppliers be sure to thank them for all they do to support our association and our industry.
As we move into the last months of 2015, it’s a good time to reflect on the year. For many, it’s been challenging with the drought and fires in the western U.S., heavy rains in the Midwest and along the east coast and in similar weather situations around the world.
As I look back on the year, I see the problems, but I also see the joys. I’m thank- ful we have a loving and merciful God; that we’re so richly blessed to live in this country and to work in this great industry. I remind myself—and I urge you—to slow down enough through this holiday season to truly appreciate your family and friends and to let them know that you do. As Christmas approaches, share the spirit of the season with those around you. Really mean it when you wish them a Merry Christmas. I do, as I wish you a Merry Christmas—filled with love, joy and laughter.
Living in Thanks,
