Family: 1st family: Karen, wife and best friend of 35 years and a WSU graduate. Oldest son, Christopher, Graduate of Central Washington State University, works at Microsoft for the Halo gaming division. Youngest son, Patrick, Graduate of University of Washington, works for Zillow in the marketing dept.

Pets: Buddy, a 90-pound Yellow Lab, just had his 15th birthday.

Residence: The last 24 years we have lived on Lake Tapps. It was a great place for my family to grow up.

Education: I am a graduate of the University of Puget Sound. My degree is in secondary education. (Only taught junior high for one year.) Never again!

Hobbies: I teach snow skiing at Crystal Mountain. I love working with teenagers and developing them into great skiers. It’s my 40+ instructing. I also water ski each morning starting the first of May to mid-October. It keeps me young and my family thinks I am nuts, perfect combo.

Best Memory: Way too many good memories to narrow it down to one. Life has been good to me and my loved ones so far. The goal is to keep my life one happy party.

Reading List: Clive Cussler series as well as Ann Rice. Love the escapism of these two authors.

Favorite Movie: Shaw Shank Redemption. Favorite Album/CD: Nirvana, The Nevermind Album.

Favorite Place: Sun Valley Idaho, summer and winter. It’s the perfect playpen for adults.

If you could do it all over again, I would . . . There is no reset button for life. I can only hope I’m getting it right this time.

If I had one year off, I would . . . take my wife to Europe for six months and then six months volunteering with some of my favorite charities. That may sound trite, but it’s what I would do.

Vision of the community association industry: I see this question as more of a goal. I would like to get more people to sign up to volunteer. A lot of people have no idea how much an extra pair of hands can make. Plus the feeling you get inside after doing something good.

I have been a volunteer of the Chapter . . . for one year.

Why do you volunteer for the Washington State Chapter? I like helping people where I think my efforts make a difference, even if it’s just a small difference.
