DC FAQs By WSCA Staff

I want to take a more active role in advancing chiropractic in Washington. How can I get involved?

What’s going on with your DC directory? I searched for my ZIP code but I’m not seeing any search results.

Excellent! There are a number of opportunities to take a more active role in chiropractic in Washington. Two that immediately come to mind are the Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission (CQAC) and the Industrial Insurance Chiropractic Advisory Committee (IICAC). Both bodies need chiropractors who volunteer to serve. At this time, the IICAC is actively seeking applicants, but the WSCA always likes to have a running list of interested chiropractors to reference when either entity has an opening. The process of volunteering goes like this—

• You contact the WSCA and express interest. Lori Grassi will then send you the application packet you need to complete.

• Once your application is submitted, we schedule a time for you to interview with the WSCA Board of Directors. This can usually be done via Zoom.

• The WSCA Board of Directors learns about your background, your interests, and what you’d like to do on the CQAC and/or IICAC.

• We then place you on a list of suggested appointees that we share with the individual appointing those positions. The list is prioritized in the order that the WSCA Board would like to see appointed, but ultimately the decision is up to the appointing individual.

• In most cases, they select the next person on our list, but sometimes they deviate from that order to meet demographic requirements for the Commission or Committee. (Demographics such as geographic location and practice philosophy are always an element, but they also seek diversity of other factors too.)

If you’re interested in learning more about either of these opportunities or possibly volunteering for them, email us at wsca@ chirohealth.org.

Great question. This is a technical glitch we’re working on. The widget on our website that searches our member directory (the “Find a Chiro” tool) recently had an update that affected its functionality. The affected aspect is the ZIP code search function and it affects rural areas more so than urban areas. Basically, the update changed the search function so that it searches for members within a radius measured from the center of the ZIP code. This means that if you live in a particularly large ZIP code and someone searches for members within five miles of it, you may not be shown if your address of record is more than five miles from that center point. Previously, this tool searched for members within that ZIP code and within the selected radius measured from its outer bounds. This is a glitch affecting every membership organization that uses the same tool we do, but we have the developers working on it now. By the time you receive this issue of Plexus (hopefully), it should be working properly again. Rest assured though, if you’re a WSCA member (excluding retired, out of state, and student members), you are in the directory.

Each issue of Plexus features several frequently asked questions about chiropractic in Washington. If you have any questions you’d like to see shared in the magazine, please submit them to:
