There are several maps and finding the office of your legislator is pretty easy. Lori is usually somewhere and she will point you in the right direction if it gets difficult.

The legislative aide is taking calls when we walk up. Looking for open chunks of time; they are the keepers of the schedule and protect the legislator’s time.

We are welcomed in right on time. A firm handshake and smile greet us. It is hard to be nervous. Legislators are professionals are good at small talk and putting people at ease. I’ve been here before, they remember me, and ask which son I brought this time.

They ask what we are working on this year and how they can help. We do the best we can to explain our bill, while only sometimes

looking at our cheat sheet. A few follow up questions and our time is done. We are ushered out quickly but not rudely.

We check in with Lori and the chiropractors from around the state. A few new faces mixed in among the regulars. We catch up on families and practices, waiting for our appointments.

This pattern repeats two or three more times.

We take off sometime in the early afternoon. We want to hit the passes before the melted snow turns to ice again…. maybe we just really want to get to Burger Master.

It was a good trip and we will have more legislation next year. I’m running out of boys, but not memories.
