ARABESQUE APPEAL > It can be daunting to stay on trend, on budget and consistent with modern designs. When creating recipes at Rose Hill Flowers in Nashville, Tennessee, we seek luxury that is replicable and effi cient to produce — especially when designing for large events or holidays. Recently, we’ve favored an “arabesque” profi le. Evoking the arched

lines of a ballerina, this profi le features a lowered center and airy sides. The variation in height and space displays each fl ower and increases the arrangement’s perceived value. By default, an arabesque arrangement displays diff erent textures

and showcases the centrally located blooms. Because of this, we layer premium blooms in the middle. Then, we use linear stems to create lateral movement. All of this is designed over a hydrangea base that covers any mechanics and creates volume. This allows us to use substantially less greenery, allocate most of the budget to fl orals and ensure a more predictable profi t margin.

CORAL DREAMS Wholesale cost: $33.85. Suggested retail: $135. Recipe: 2 ‘Kiwi’ hydrangea, 3 soft pink ‘Clooney’ ranunculus, 3 peach ruffl ed-edge lisianthus, 2 ‘Coral Charm’ peonies, 3 white lysimachia, 3 variegated mini pittosporum, 4 stems white stock. Designed in an HR Casa Bella container.
