Elder Emeritus House Parents of the Year The Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyte-
Elder Emeritus to Michael “Mickey” Westber- ry. Mickey and his wife, Pam, joined the Bar- tow ARP Church in 1976 under Pastor Grady Oates. Mickey has been an incredibly diligent servant of the Lord during those 48 years, serv- ing two terms as a Deacon (including Chair- man), three terms on the Session (including Vice Moderator), and taught on an adult Sun- day School team for 45 of those years. As an Elder, he served as Chairman of the Missions Committee for six years, which entails the planning and organization of a three-day, on- campus Missions Conference each year. He devoted his time to Florida Presbytery by serving on the Christian Education Com- mittee and the Minister and His Works Com- mittee. He also supported the ARP Synod by serving on the Board of Christian Education as the Resource Committee Chairman and twice attended Synod as a delegate for the Bartow ARP Church. He paired his love for athletics and Chris- tian fellowship by forming the “ARP Angels” church league softball team, where he earned the title of “Coach” Mick. Later on, he orga- Island, where he earned a new title: Captain Westburger. Most recently, he led a team to cre- - cial aid to church members that are considering full-time ministry work.
paragraphs. At the Bartow ARP Church, “Mickey and Pam” or “the Westberry’s” are synonymous with humor, lovingkindness, hospitality, thoughtfulness, and faithfulness. As Christ serves as our example for Christian living, Mickey and Pam, inasmuch as any two human beings are capable, serve as examples for our members every week. Ascending to the responsibility to attend Session meetings, but his wisdom will continue to be sought, and he will continue to be an example for the rest of us men to follow.
Dennis and Cindy Cox, now in their twentieth year of service
as French Camp Academy (FCA) house parents, have provided sta- bility and training for hundreds of girls. The Coxes love each girl deeply even at the risk of being rejected or hurt by those who come from deep trauma. They embrace each young lady in their home as if she were their own and commit to her care physically, emotion- ally, and spiritually. Truth and wisdom are consistently taught while broken rules or failed tests provide opportunities to show uncondi- tional love and to build resilience. Dennis and Cindy are members of French Camp Presbyterian
Church (FCPC), French Camp, MS. They were selected as the 2024 National House Parents of the Year by the Coalition of Residential Excellence (CORE). A generous donation allowed them and three other FCA couples to attend the CORE National Conference in Honolulu, HI, October 6-9, for the recognition. Dennis and Cindy also invest time in other lives across campus and in the community. Dennis, a beloved Bible teacher, serves as an FCPC elder and mentor to young men. Cindy manages FCA’s - with her girls and with others. Dennis and Cindy have a strong faith and trust in the Lord to sustain them for their calling as ministers in His work.
