hanksgiving is a time of giving thanks for all our blessings. Despite deadly hurricanes, brutal war, political strife, and economic challenges, etc., we all have a lot to be thankful for, not the least of which is a plethora of dynamic circus adventures to kick off the holiday season. In New York City (NY), Big Apple Circus returns at the Lincoln Center November 9 with “Dream Big” featuring King of the High Wire Nik Wallenda, comic daredevil Johnny Rockett, The Kiriku Brothers, aerialist Alan Silva, trapeze artist Elli Huber, juggling master Gena Cristiani, Veranica and Her Talented Dogs, and more! This season BAC is offering a “Behind the Curtain” VIP Concierge Experience that includes a pre- show ‘meet and greet” with BAC artists, an after-show backstage tour, and a private ringside box that includes eight tickets. Also in the NYC area, Circus Hermanos Vazquez plays the Bronx (NY) through November 14 while its sister show Flip! Is in Rockaway (NJ) thru November 7. UniverSoul Circus will conclude its Chicago (IL) engagement this month and move to Detroit to close out its 2022 season. Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities plays Atlanta (GA) through Christmas Eve. In California, Circus Vargas is in Torrance thru November 7. Speaking of CV, Fox Sports recently kicked offWeek 1 of the 2022–23 NFL Season with a creatively edited three-minute video of dynamic football highlights inter- spersed with staged scenes performed by circus artists. in eight Texas towns in three weeks before moving to Hammond (IN) November 25. Garden Bros. Circus is hopscotching Florida hitting Daytona Beach November 3–6; Miami November 10–26; and closing out the month in St. Petersburg November 27–30. Venardos Circus entertains in Asheville (NC) November 2–20 before trekking to Winter Garden (FL) opening on November 23. Circus Hollywood’s Outdoors Show plays through November 13 at the State Fair of Louisiana in Shreveport while Mr. Swindler’s Traveling Peculiarium and Drink-Ory Garden closes out its Boston (MA) engagement November 6. Ararat Shrine Circus is in Independence (MO) November 17–20 and the Hadi Shrine Circus will play throughout the Thanksgiving Weekend in Evansville (IN). Zoppe Family Circus remains in Redwood City (CA) thru November 27 and Acrobats of Shanghai perform daily in Branson (MO) thru January. PEAK Performances of Montclair State University in New Jersey will present four performances of “In the Fire” November 10–13. The show is a firefighter-themed, experimental stage pro- duction that combines “contemporary circus with artistic curios- ity, risk and reflection.”


Holiday Circus Show Season is upon us! Two units of Cirque du Soleil’s T’was The Night Before . . . play simultaneously November 25 thru December 11 at theWang Theatre at Boch Center in Boston (MA) and the Texas Trust CU Theater in Grand Prairie (TX). Check out individual show websites for specific dates. The Circus Ring of Fame has announced four new inductees for 2023. They are: Peggy Williams, first female Clown College graduate to perform with The Greatest Show on Earth; The Alexis Brothers —Marco and Paulo Lorador — hand balanc- ing duo and featured artists in the Mystère show in Las Vegas (NV); Jeanette Williams, liberty horse presenter and successful circus agent; and Father Jerry Hogan, National Circus Priest for more than 25 years and the first person of faith to be inducted into the CROF. These legendary circus personalities will be in- ducted into this prestigious society in Sarasota (FL) February 4. Circus Juventas will host its Fundraising Gala November 5 in St. Paul (MN) with performances by student artists. The Circus Arts Conservatory in Sarasota (FL) will present a Recreational Silks Showcase November 5 and the Sailor Circus Gold Troupe Showcase November 19. The 10th Annual West Coast Aerial Arts Festival will be held at the Aerial Dance Theater in Costa Mesa (CA) November 10–13 while the New England Center for Circus Arts in Brattleboro (VT) will be holding five two-day “immersion sessions” in lyra, straps, hand balancing, vertical dance, and Russian bar November 4–27 in Brattleboro (VT). Wisconsin Historical Society’s Circus World Museum is embarking on “a multi-year vision to reimagine the Circus World grounds and guest experience” which will include “restoration of
