he 2022 IAFE Convention & Trade Show, themed along with all of 2022 as the year of #FairsUnited, is just around the corner and this year’s event is in

a new city! That’s right — for the first time ever, the IAFE Convention is being held in Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 27–30. There is more than just a new city to explore though. Check out all the great stuff we have planned for Convention at- tendees.

On Sunday evening, Nov. 27, we have a HUGE party planned for you — Fair-A-Palooza Tailgate! This “fair for fair people” will feature rides, food, entertainment, and even ice skating. All indoors! It’s going to be a blast! Transportation to and from the fairgrounds will be provided by the IAFE via buses.

The 2022 Raisin’ For A Reason Wagons & Whiskey event, also set for Nov. 27, (what a fun night!) benefits the IAFE Education Foundation and the Institute of Fair Management. This fundraiser will be held in the Grand Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (event will end shortly

after Fair-A-Palooza begins). High level workshops cover the gamut from “Making

Ticketing Technology Work for Smaller Fairs” and “Hosting a Cannabis Festival” to “Succession Planning for Fairs.”

Attendees have the option to sign up for offsite Educational Experiences, including Gainbridge Fieldhouse (home of the Indiana Pacers), The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis (the largest in the world), Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Indiana State

Fairgrounds. Former NFL player Jason Brown and his story of walking away from the NFL to purchase a 1,000-acre farm in Louisburg, NC, is sure to inspire attendees. Brown will be keynoting the Tuesday General Session, Nov. 29. We’re designating time each day for Networking

Circles, where smaller groups of people divided by similar job duties, can gather to build their network. We want to provide attendees with a circle of friends to call on in the future.

For the <40 crowd, we have the YPI (young profes- sionals initiative), a group of active members that sched-

ule special events for that age group to encourage partici- pation and networking. While this group often schedules events that include all IAFE members, the group is specifi- cally geared toward those under 40. You could receive a $100 refund on your registra-

tion costs if you take part in the Fair Buyer/Exhibitor Breakfast! Meet one-on-one with some IAFE trade show exhibitors on Tuesday, while enjoying a hot breakfast. Speaking of Trade Show exhibitors, this year will have

the cream-of-the-crop exhibitors expected at the IAFE Trade Show. Taking place Nov. 28–29, the Show will include a fun

Happy Hour with games as well as 17 Beyond the Booth show- cases and the Trade Show Lounge! This year’s Ed Shed will include contest winners and more.

Our new Cutting-Edge Technology Demonstration Room will include presentations by technology companies. In addition to full registrations and one- and two-day passes, we are offering the Plus One Promotion for Sunday only and for members only, where two people from the same fair can attend for a discount. It’s a great way for those within driving distance to take advantage, even if unable to attend the entire event.

Comedian C. Willi Myles, “America’s Everyday Comedian,” will help us close out the Convention as he enter-

tains attendees at theWednesday Closing Session and Celebration, Nov. 30.
