According to Dr. Pagan, one of the most crucial lessons he’s learned about continuous quality improvement is that excellence in patient care isn’t just about mastering procedures—it's about constantly reevaluating how care is delivered by both individuals and the system.


“In IR, where we often work at the intersection of multiple specialties, even small inefficiencies—like delays in room turnover, imaging access or consent workflows—can ripple into significant consequences for patient outcomes, patient experiences and departmental efficiency,” he said. “If we lose focus

on the patient, it can quickly turn to a focus on operator convenience at the expense of the patient experience and care. Instead, if we focus on the patient’s perspective, we can make systematic changes that ultimately allow us to provide care efficiently, effectively and consistently.”


Dr. Pagan and his team intend to continue building the dataset to better inform long-term planning.


“By encouraging ongoing participation and data collection, we hope to foster research that shapes the future of resource allocation in IR,” he said.
