Greg’s primary focus is to provide top tier servicing and highly specialized risk management expertise to one specific segment of the vast


insurance marketplace; condominiums and HOAs. He currently sits on 2 committees for WSCAI and has recently been awarded WSCAI volunteer of the year in 2016. He discusses E & O insurance in his article.


Jackson Kerschen


discusses wi-fi in community common areas in his article. He is a sales coordinator at Wave G, an internet service provider that works with HOAs in Washington, Oregon, and California. With his Bachelor of Arts from Seattle University, Jackson is passionate about working with local communities, and


brings his company’s years of experience in the ISP industry to answer questions about bringing Wi-Fi to your building. When he isn’t working, he can be found hiking in one of our many State Parks.


Karen McDonald, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, RS


is a Project Manager at Association Reserves of WA. A former association manager, 2018 marks Karen’s 18th year in the community association industry where she now helps bridge the gap between associations and their reserve studies. Karen is President Elect for the WSCAI Chapter and serves as


liaison to the Communications Committee and the Market Expansion Committee. Outside of the office, she enjoys gardening and traveling. She contributes “Is Your Commmunity Room a Blast from the Past?” in this issue.


Valerie Farris Oman, Esq.


brings us “Navigating WUCIOA.” She is a partner attorney at Condominium Law Group. She represents and assists community associations on collections matters along with general counsel and governance issues. Valerie is passionate about providing high quality legal services to our clients. Valerie


graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law (2005). Prior to joining Condominium Law Group in 2009, Valerie’s practice included small business law, estate planning, and civil litigation. Valerie grew up in the Pacific Northwest, is an avid Seahawks fan, and speaks four languages with varying degrees of fluency. Valerie loves spending time with her young child, family, and friends as well as her dog, Dot, and can often be found hiking or lifting heavy things. An active WSCAI volunteer, Valerie is a speaker at industry events, management seminars, and community associations, and contributes regularly to industry periodicals.


Dainen Penta, Esq.


has been an attorney for over 15 years, and in 2013 he joined Leahy Fjelstad Peryea, a Seattle law firm providing general counsel services to community associations in the Greater Puget Sound region. He enjoys outdoor recreation including camping, hiking, and stand up paddleboarding. He shares ideas for


day hikes in his article. Joy Steele, CMCA


discusses National Preparedness Month in this issue. Joy is a community manager at Trestle Community Management. A devoted community volunteer for over a decade, she has also served her condo association for 7+ years, both on the board and on various committees. A member of both the


SPJ and the NSNC, Joy is a columnist and contributor to the South King Media group, and various online and print periodicals. She currently resides in Des Moines with her husband Dan and their two rescue dogs.


Caitlin Traub, CMCA


shares her experience of using technology in the community association industry in this issue. Caitlin attended college at Temple University in Philadelphia where she studied Political Science. Shortly after college, she stumbled across community association management and has found a


perfect fit for her analytical and tenacious spirit. After working for over four years within the Dallas, Texas market, Caitlin recently relocated to Seattle and joined the community association team at WPI Real Estate. She has experience managing associations both large and small and understands the different challenges that each face. Caitlin is excited to become a part of WSCAI and is actively pursuing her next professional designation. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring her new city and tackling the ski slopes of the Cascades.
