President’s Message Sergey A. Petrov, PCAM, Chapter President

Summer is here! Almost, that is, since this note was drafted and sent to print well in advance of July.

I

do hope we have a great summer this year. Nice weather teased us for a bit at the end of April and the beginning of May, then turned gloomy all over again. The Chapter Board of Directors generally takes a break in the summer, although we will likely be busy finalizing several initiatives this year.

Board member round tables are now active in the north King/ south Snohomish Counties and the Issaquah area. These continue to receive great feedback from the volunteer board members who attend informal monthly gatherings to discuss the challenges each of them face in the day-to-day administration of their communities and share creative solutions to obstacles they implemented in their association.

Any volunteer board member is welcome to participate in one within their geographic area. Thanks to an association board member in Tacoma, effort is now underway to organize such a peer group in Tacoma. If you are interested in meeting like- minded individuals who have been elected to oversee their multi- million dollar corporations (aka condominium and homeowner associations), call the Chapter office and we will put you in touch with a board member round table group in your geographic area. We can also assist in organizing a new peer group if you would like to see a similar endeavor in your area.

The Board of Directors has also been working on a scholarship program. The intent of the program is “to provide the leadership for successful development and operation of Community Associations through information, research, and education.” Scholarships may be issued to managers pursuing their industry designations, board members whose associations cannot afford to pay for educational seminars, and anything else that advances the education or community association public policy.

Do you know someone who has done something exemplary this year? Went above and beyond and exceeded all of your expectations? Designed such a creative solution to a complex problem that you want to tell everyone about it? The second annual Awards Gala is right around the corner and the Chapter is seeking nominations in each of the following categories: Community Association Manager of the Year, Individual Business Partner of the Year, and Homeowner / Board member of the Year. Applications are now being accepted by the Chapter office and the awards will be granted by the former Chapter presidents. In an effort of ensuring an impartial neutral selection process, all identifying information will be removed from the applications prior to being forwarded for review. Please tell the Chapter office about those exemplary individuals who consistently go above and beyond exceeding everyone’s expectations so they can be recognized at the annual Awards Gala on November 8th.

Here’s to an amazing summer! Sergey A. Petrov, PCAM
