President’s Message


This issue marks the beginning of a very full PRISM International meeting season. In September we are hosting a fundamentals of Imaging and Digital Information Workshop in Mumbai, India and the Data Protection Conference in Rosemont, IL. Then it’s on to Vienna, Austria for our annual European conference (September 30–October 2) and Cusco, Peru for the Latin American Forum (November 5–7). But that’s not all. The conference


and meeting opportunities continue into 2015 with our Asia Pacific Conference in Hong Kong in February and our annual conference in San Antonio, TX, in May. We hope you will take advantage of one or more of these valuable educational and networking opportunities. Be sure to visit the PRISM website (www.prismintl.org) for all the details and registration information for each event.


This issue of inFocus serves as a preview of the Data Protection


Conference. The Data Protection Task Group, which developed this year’s program, believes that strengthening our knowledge base and cultivating meaningful relationships with our colleagues and vendors will help us advance our individual businesses and promote best practices in our collective industry. This year’s conference theme, “Evolving with Our Business,” focuses on this idea and highlights the core of the conference: looking at subtle and significant changes within data protection and discussing how these changes might impact you, your business, and the data protection industry as a whole.


The articles in this issue highlight the changing environment for data protection, looking at ways to be prepared for data breaches, creating response plans for breaches, assessing which data protection solution might be the best fit for you, and how to market data protection to your clients. Many of the conference speakers provided additional insight on their areas of expertise in these articles and will be expanding on these topics during the actual conference.


This issue also features member news and a spotlight on a business in Namibia advancing Green initiatives and innovative business practices to improve energy efficiency.

I want to personally encourage to do so and engage with your colleagues and prospective customers. PRISM International recently enhanced the Online Member Community Directory and the Online Buyers’ Guide (formerly known as the Networking Guide and Resource Guide, respectively). Now you can update your personal and company profiles in real time, which is a great benefit in our fast- paced world.
