 more than $47K in scholarships


T


he OSCPA has announced its 2021 scholarship recipients – awarding $47,050 to 41 accounting students across Oklahoma.


All 2021 scholarship recipients will be recognized at the


Society’s 103rd Annual Members Meeting on Friday, September 17, 2021, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Tulsa. Generous contributions from businesses, communities and, most importantly, OSCPA members allow the Society’s Educational Foundation to reward accounting students for their academic achievements and provide financial stability for those pursuing a career in accounting as a CPA. Scholarships range from $250 to $4,000. In addition to general scholarships, the OSCPA proudly offers 10 named scholarships to accounting students with significant achievements:


• Beale Family Scholarship Named after the Beale Family, partners with the OSCPA's preferred insurance provider, Beale Professional Service, now part of 3000 Insurance Group. It is awarded to a full-time accounting student who has completed a minimum of 60 college credits, including 15 credits in accounting.


• Daryl Hill Scholarship Named after a long-time OSCPA executive director. It is awarded at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.


• Micah B. Steelman Memorial Scholarship Named after a dedicated professional with a passion for mentoring University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) students. Awarded to a UCO student pursuing a degree in accounting, expressing a primary interest in tax.


• Randy Thurman Business Scholarship Awarded to a student attending Oklahoma City Community College.


• Retha Duggan Scholarship Named after a former executive director of the OSCPA and is based on funds provided by the OSCPA. When possible, preference is given to applicants who have been admitted to a master of accountancy program.


• Rick Kells Memorial Scholarship Named after a dedicated CPA and attorney who contributed greatly to the ongoing education of tax professionals. Awarded to an accounting student working part-time while attending school full-time who intends on pursuing a career in tax.


• Robin Byford Scholarship Awarded to a full-time accounting student who is attending Oklahoma State University.


• Rodney and Janice Gray Scholarship Awarded to outstanding accounting students attending East Central University or the University of Oklahoma.


• Ruthann Fairbairn Scholarship Named after a dedicated CPA devoted to furthering female professionals. It is awarded each year to up to two female accounting students at an Oklahoma college or university.


• Thomas Fund Memorial Scholarship Named for Jess Tomas, CPA, who served on the OSCPA Educational Foundation. Awarded to a full-time accounting student attending either UCO or Cameron University.


Te Foundation also awards a scholarship to one Oklahoma high school senior planning to major in accounting at an Oklahoma college or university and one community college student majoring in accounting. If you would like to contribute to the OSCPA’s Educational
