of director. She handles the benefits for pipeline union workers and oversees more than a billion dollars in assets. Adding to her extraordinary background, Vause was crowned

Mrs. Oklahoma in 2001 and was second runner-up for Mrs. America. She attributes where she is today to her background in both accounting and pageants. "My accounting background is vital for what I do on a daily
basis,” she explained. “Working in public accounting – for five years I audited where I now work – enabled me to learn about PIBF and eventually come to work here. I love helping the membership and working with the amazing group of managers and staff. We are a small office and really are a family." As to the pageant contribution to her success, Vause said, “I learned to confidently carry myself! Te interview training over the years was invaluable to me. I credit that experience for helping me with academic interviews in college and job interviews after college. I completely believe that I would not be where I am today without that confidence.” CPAFOCUS met with Vause to learn more about her unusual
road to CPA.

CPAFOCUS: Which three words describe you best? Vause: Loyal, Sensitive, Straightforward
CPAFOCUS: What is the strangest job you have ever had? Vause: I refilled the salad bar at a Sirloin Stockade and was a car hop at Sonic. Oddly enough, years later, I was in a Sonic commercial as a car hop with Frankie Avalon. No roller skates involved!
CPAFOCUS: What is a movie you could watch over and over again? Vause:Miss Congeniality. It is hilarious and with my pageant background, I can relate to the pageant stigmas. Plus, the gown I wore as Mrs. Oklahoma when competing for Mrs. America in 2001 was the exact one Sandra Bullock wore in that movie!
CPAFOCUS: Is there anything you wish you could do that you feel you are pretty bad at? Vause: Singing. I admire singers and would love to be able to sing well.
CPAFOCUS: What is your favorite sports team? Vause: Oklahoma State Cowboys, any sport — go Pokes!
CPAFOCUS: When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up? Vause: An accountant, no kidding!
