President's Message

Robert M. DeNichilo, Esq., CCAL Richardson I Ober I DeNichilo Chapter President

FORWA

They say time flies, and that is certainly proving to be true this year. We are more than halfway through the year and while we still have work to do, there is also lots to look forward to in the year's second half. Over the last several months, the Chapter has continued to demonstrate our members' and staff's high-level skill and commitment. You cannot help but be impressed with the quantity and the quality of our educational programs and events. Over the last several months we have learned about everything from defensible space to protect against fires, to tree trimming essentials, best practices in contract drafting, the impact and requirements of SB 326, played billiards, hosted a new mixer for homeowner leaders, and delivered and packed food at a food bank. I want to acknowledge not only the hard work of our committee chairs and committee members in making these all happen, but I want to especially recognize our Chapter Staff and their contribution to the Chapter's success. Brandon Ngyuen, DJ Conlon, Christine Bailey, and our Executive Director Denise Kennedy all work tirelessly to make sure we have successful events. I encourage you all to take a moment at the next event to go up and thank them for their efforts and support.

The Chapter's hard work and success were recognized at the National Level during the CAI National Conference in May. Denise Kennedy, several Board members, and I traveled to Orlando for the Conference, where the Chapter received two awards: one for Best Net Retention in the Extra Large category, and a Public Affairs Award for building the CAI brand and making the community aware of the services and resources available through the Chapter's Realtor Outreach Program. Thank you to all those who made that program successful!

We also continued the education of our homeowner leader members as we held our CLTP educational classes in May. We also continue to offer a limited number of free luncheon attendance sponsorships for homeowner leaders who would like to attend our luncheon programs at no cost. If you are a homeowner leader, or know of one who would be interested in attending a luncheon educational session, please get in touch with the Chapter office to see if a free sponsorship for the luncheon is available.

In June, we celebrated our most recent PCAMs. The PCAM designation is the highest professional recognition available nationwide for those specializing in community association management and the pinnacle for managers in our industry. The managers who achieve this designation exemplify the skills, talents, and expertise of a manager at the highest level. I want to congratulate all the PCAMs in our Chapter, especially our newest PCAMs, Holly Maddalena and Devon Nichols, for the time and dedication they display to our industry.

As we turn the corner to the second half of the year, August will be a busy month full of legal-related topics. We will host the CID Law Seminar, our Free Legal Advice Luncheon, and the Symposium & Expo in August. This year our Symposium & Expo will be an expanded day, featuring nine programs, a keynote, a trade show, and a dinner benefitting CLAC at the end of the day. It will be a fun day full of education and networking, and I am looking forward to seeing you there.

In September, we will be holding a new event for the Chapter, our first Reverse Trade Show, allowing our business partners to showcase their services in a new and different way.

The Board is also beginning the process of implementing our mentorship programs. We have approved charters for the manager and business partner mentorship programs. We are evaluating the best method to implement these programs and expect to have them up and running in the last quarter of the year. If you are a manager or business partner open to mentoring a newer member of the Chapter, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Chapter office to apply as a mentor so we can start matching mentors to potential mentees.

Lastly, I have to share that one of the best parts of serving as President of the Chapter is meeting some of you I did not know before the year started. It has been a privilege and pleasure getting to know our members better. If we don't know each other yet, I look forward to meeting you soon. If you see me at an event, please say hello. I want to meet as many of you as I can this year.
