There is a reminder about Dental Day and PAC, as well as a brief summary of our top agenda items for 2024. I won’t beat a dead horse about attending or giving, but please do both. Most of the stuff this issue covers needs both. Advocacy pretty much affects ev- erything, and there is no substitute for your voice and physical presence.

And last, but not least, there is a timely update from MDIS about health insurance benefits, which can be a great way to recruit and retain dental team members. MDIS exists because MDA exists — and it exists to help dentists, their dental teams and your families. The good news is that even if you have questions after reading the article, with one phone call you have an entire team of experienced agents ready to answer any in- surance question you have, and that wants to find you the best policies for the best rates.

If you’re a member, thank you. I hope as you read this issue, like me you feel pride and excitement for the work being done on your behalf.

If you’re a non-member, the truth is you may benefit from this work, too, even if you don’t pay dues and never get involved. But we want and need you as a member to continue to work for entire dental profession in the state.

For both groups — what if the MDA wasn’t here? Would any of this be done? Would you see this work and these benefits from another group? Can online communities, study clubs or even you, alone, affect change like this?

Back to the questions first posed. Yes, we always have work to do to provide more value and entice dentists to belong. But I assure you, now more than ever, your MDA and ADA are doing that — as many of these articles will express.

Thanks for being on the journey, and if you’re not, there is plenty of room. Get in and buckle up!
