MYTH #7 The billing process with Medicaid is too complicated; I will have to hire an addi- tional billing staff member if I take Medicaid. FALSE:MO HealthNet is just like any other insurance company. They provide a wealth of training and resources to educate providers about what services are covered. Providers are encouraged to visit the MO HealthNet Education and Training page to enroll in trainings and access resources. And if you still need help, refer to Myth #4 — we have real people, easily reachable, who want to help you (contact us)!

MYTH #8 I will not be able to easily find/ understand which patients have coverage through MO Health Net versus the Managed Care Plans. FALSE: Each person who is determined eligible for MO HealthNet is assigned a Medical Eligibility (ME) code. ME codes drive most MO HealthNet benefits. The Provider Resource Guide provides defi- nitions for each ME code. How do you know what ME Code a participant has? ME codes

can be found when checking a participant’s eligibility. Providers can check eligibility on eMOMED or via the interactive voice re- sponse (IVR) system by calling 573-751-2896.

MO HealthNet offers a Comprehensive Dental Benefit and a Limited Adult Dental Benefit. The Dental Benefit Table breaks down which coverage an individual is eligible for based on their assigned ME code.

MYTH #9 Medicaid participants don’t have access to dependable transportation. FALSE: Both MO HealthNet and Managed Care offers free rides to covered service for most Medicaid participants. MTM is the transpor- tation broker used by MO HealthNet and the Managed Care plans. See each MC plan’s page for additional program information. MTM’s contact information differs by plan.

We hope answers to these myths may help more Missouri dentists to consider signing up for Medicaid and providing care to the most vulnerable patients in their community, while receiving greatly improved reimbursement!
