’m excited to share this issue with both our mem- bers and many of our practicing non-members be- cause it’s chock full of interesting articles address-
ing many different facets of the workforce dilemma so many of us struggle with day to day. We signed on as dentists to provide patient care. That’s hard to do when finding and retaining competent team members absorbs your time.
As you read, you’ll see that our EFDA curriculum and class offerings are top notch. And our OPA pilot project is progressive and will improve oral healthcare delivery. I think you’ll feel, like the entire Board of Trustees feels, proud of the significant and bold steps we — and other oral health stakeholders — have taken.
And if you feel otherwise, please let me know. Member feedback is essen- tial in our work flow. Equally important is member engagement. We need your voice at Dental Day at the Capitol. We need EFDA trainers. We need PAC donors. We need mentors for our sharp new dentists. Any growing and healthy organization will have many needs. You might be surprised how rewarding your participation can be. Success takes everyone.
But the MDA does so much more than workforce development. We started a Missouri New Dentist Network Facebook group to provide connection and support for our younger members. Our first-class advocacy team will tackle Virtual Credit Card payments (I’m sure you know the hassle they require) as well as Medical Loss Ratio efforts to put more patient premium dollars back into treatment and not in administrative costs or profits. We continue to enhance the dental Medicaid environment. Our digital MoDental On Demand site is growing in popularity. Plus there are exciting changes on the horizon from both the ADA and MDA. There’s never been a more important time to support your profession. Join us going forward!
