AGC of California Launches Diversity & Inclusion Task Force
By Carol Eaton AGC of California launched
its new Diversity & Inclusion Task Force this August, bringing together a group of 15 industry experts dedicated to advancing AGC’s commitment to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion across California’s construction industry. Established under the AGC
Construction Education Foundation (CEF), the task force was the result of recognition by the board of directors
that members were seeking guidance on what is needed to make a true impact in the area of diversity and inclusion in the construction industry. “After events that transpired in
our country over the last few months, we expedited the launch of AGC’s Diversity & Inclusion Task Force to summer of 2020 so that we can learn, build and grow stronger as an industry,” said Erin Volk, Vice President, Workforce & Community Development, AGC and Executive Director of the AGC Construction
AGC CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION FOUNDATION Invest in the Future of Construction

For 100 years, AGC of
California (AGC) has worked collaboratively with members to build a better, brighter future for our state. And now, as we look to our next 100 years, we have new and exciting ways to invest in the most important part of our industry: its people.
Te AGC Construction
Education Foundation (CEF) provides opportunities to strengthen our industry from the core— inspiring our future with support for collegiate and apprenticeship programs, developing our teams with education and training resources, and giving back to the industry and our local communities. “Contractors are some of the most generous people in the world. When we looked at our wide- ranging philanthropy and community support, we noticed there was a big gap…we didn’t have a viable non-profit organization doing anything to promote the future of our industry. When Build California was launched, we felt it filled the void we saw in our giving, and we immediately made a grant to CEF, and we are pleased to do so again this year. I would encourage every contractor to look at their philanthropy and ask, “what is the value of having an engaged, trained future workforce?” I encourage you to make CEF and Build California one of your top giving priorities, just as we have.” – Mike Blach
meaningful and impactful oppor- tunities that shape construction. But we can’t do it alone. As a non-profit
foundation, we rely on the gener- osity of those choosing to support CEF with their time and financial resources. And while we know AGC member companies are not lacking fundraising requests, giving to CEF is a direct investment in the future of our industry. To those who already proudly
donate to CEF, thank you for your generosity. And, for those who haven’t yet, we hope you consider how a contribution to our foundation could impact our industry. To learn more or donate, visit

Education Foundation. “Trough members’ participation in this task force, we can help ensure construction workplaces are welcoming, safe, and inclusive for an increasingly diverse and talented pool of workers.” Te Task Force convenes regularly
and is set up to provide AGC’s State Board and the CEF Board actionable input on policies, programs, training and best practices when it comes to workforce, subcontractor and supplier diversity and inclusion among other things.
