Sustainable trails to

Colorado’s summits The Sustainable Trails Program was envisioned as a way to systematically inventory and manage the system of high-altitude hiking trails to Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks. The Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI ) has spent 18 years building 26 sustainable summit routes to Fourteener peaks to facilitate hiking access while protecting alpine tundra ecosystems.

On an annual basis CFI invests

roughly $1.2 million into this trail sys- tem through grants, donations, in-kind support, and the value of labor provid- ed by volunteers.
