the new system without overwhelming those who managed it. Starting slow and then expanding is also a good way to discover and fix problems and to obtain feedback. Springs has now customized 87 forms to cater to its evaluation needs.
Process maps can make learning a new system less overwhelming for staff members.
Provide resources to help everyone navigate the new system. At Springs Charter Schools, the human resources spe- cialist created “process maps,” which are, essentially, cheat sheets or guides that pro- vide a quick overview of Springshots. These types of resources work best if they are school-specific. Employees don’t always read the all-staff emails, so mak- ing a cheat sheet that’s specific to a staff member’s own school makes it relevant and more likely that employees will use it. Springs Charter Schools created Springshots process maps that outline step-by-step how the program works and what it looks like all the way down to what happens when the staff member clicks on a specific link. Process maps can make learning a new system less overwhelming for staff members.

Supervisors and staff members raved about the program during Springs Charter Schools’ annual staff training events and are frequently approached at conferences by employees of other schools who want to learn more about the initia- tive. Administrators love the convenience and efficiency of the management platform.
