n 2019, NPM took several significant steps toward reaching financial stability and independence, creating a profit of $77,395.


Tis profit was the result of continual evaluation and re-allocation of association resources. It also reflects a 3.9 percent reduction of budgeted costs and tremendous fundraising support by our members (21.6 percent increase in ONE NPM giving over 2018).


Cost containment was especially effective with convention expenses; and all three stand-alone NPM Institutes achieved profitability. Te new convention model that locates conventions in large “big-box” hotels and new innovative programming will help NPM achieve continual financial health.


At the same time, NPM experienced a nearly 9% decline in membership in 2019. Declining membership continues to be of great concern. It is prompting many changes, especially within the membership renewal process.


While retention is important, we must also reach pastoral musicians in the more than 10,000 parishes not represented in current NPM membership. Our staff are always looking to

increase the value proposition for members. Te work of NPM 2.0 will undoubtedly bring insights to positively influence NPM membership.
