ARPC Spotlight VBS in a Day!

ing’s Church, Columbia, SC, is a church plant still in its infancy, but by God’s grace, we have seen Him do a lot with a little and in a short period of time. Despite not having a building of our own or the resources to host a full-scale VBS this summer, we had before us a body of believers with hearts burning to reach the unchurched children in our community. With no place to invite our community to, we invited ourselves into our community. On June 29th — an exceedingly swampy evening characteristic of humid summers in Columbia, SC — King’s Church band- ed together a large group of volunteers

from within the church, other local con- gregations, and unchurched friends and neighbors to serve the children of a low- income apartment community with dinner, games, and the message of our risen Savior and King. Unsure of how well-attended or how
well-received the one day event would be, we did what we were sure ought to be done and the Lord blessed it. More than 80 chil- dren came to the event. Reluctant hearts were made glad, and downcast faces were brightened. The laughter, enjoyment, and attentiveness of these children during this time was glorious, and the trust and sup- port of the apartment staff was won. We have been welcomed into this neighbor- hood and encouraged to continue to min- ister to them. We have three more events scheduled there for this calendar year.
