I Children’s Ministry Top 5
1. Get kids into their Bibles. Even if look- ing up a verse or two takes forever, have the kids practice doing it. If you are reading from a Bible storybook for a younger class; show them where the story comes from in the Bible.
2. Work on scripture memory. I still re- member verses that I memorized as a child. Plant those seeds early; even if it is only a few words of a verse.
3. Make things secure. Go above and beyond to assure parents that their child is safe in your care. This will look differ- ent depending on where you are. Good place to start is background checks, al- lergies, and orderly arrival/dismissal.
4. Communicate to the point of over- communication. This includes all the ways you can possibly communicate: email, Facebook, group texts, etc.
5. Build relationships! For me this looks like going to games or school programs, sending birthday cards, or sending texts asking how I can pray for families.
