In 1819, our Synod sent John Taylor Pressly on an eight-week, horseback journey of over 900 miles throughout home-mission effort. In 1875, the Synod sent Mary Galloway Giffen, by boat, on a 3,000-mile journey to effort. These bold mission movements eventually birthed the rapid growth of our denomination nationally and globally.

Now, through World Focus 2023, we have the chance to see how far the Lord has brought the denomination from those humble and courageous beginnings!
Starting June 8 at 1pm, in the Bonclarken Youth Activities Building reveal dozens of booths displaying our mission work in France, Germany, Lithuania, Pakistan, Poland, Rwanda, Spain, UK, and the U.S.—all manned
by our own missionaries, many of whom are coming home just for this event! In addition, church planters from ONA will be there to encourage you in their work of growing the ARP church here in the states. Among many other organizations, Erskine will be present to share the work of the college and seminary.

At this World Focus, we are crafting a surprise activity to help the whole family engage with missionaries and church planters. Outside the YAB, we will have bouncy houses for the children, county fair games, cotton candy, and other refreshments. So please bring your children!
Regarding our World Focus 2023 theme, we are reminded that early churchmen of our denomination literally had a pioneering mindset – given that much of early missions was among the rural pioneer lands of the southeastern states. Today, we are
challenged to recover that mindset by becoming increasingly bold in our witness for the Gospel, knowing that no one is exempt from sharing the Good News of Christ across the street and around the world. That is why the theme of this year’s World Focus is “Grow & Go: What’s Your Part?”

It is our hope you will not only walk away from World Focus encouraged but also moved to begin evangelizing in your own neighborhoods and churches. May you experience an increased desire to pray for missions and for some, the Lord’s call to missions yourself.
Music this year will be by our own missionary candidates, A.T. and Lauren Cason who are singer- songwriters bound for the UK, to do evangelism. Our speaker, Dr. Harry Reeder III, author of From Embers to Flame, will encourage us in how the Lord can grow our church.
