Adina, could you give the readers a brief view into your venue management career? I began my career in entertainment venues as a part-time event re- thought people that worked at arenas only had to be there when events happened. I had no idea that people worked there as an actual job or haven’t looked back. Since then I have worked in various types of en- tertainment venues including arenas, convention centers, and theaters. impactful to my career. I have had the pleasure of working all sorts of events from dog shows to the Super Bowl and everything in between.
Let’s look at your career goals, such as why becoming a CFE was important to you as you worked on your path in venue management. Why did you have that focus in your career? As I was working through my career path, the CFE was important - evolving priorities and needs. It is important to have that focus, so that you are striving towards getting better and being at the top of your and maintaining the CFE designation helps to safeguard against that mindset.
Speak to our IAVM members about your philosophical ap- proach to a career vs. “having a job.” What, in your opinion, are the differentiating factors? You work for the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Could you comment on the state of performing arts in today’s world? Considering many areas impacting the arts such as shrinking audienc- es for some of our arts partners, limited funding, lack of access, and our PAC’s. We are always thinking about ways to stay relevant and of hosting diverse, innovative programming or it may be in the ini- tiatives, conversations and partnerships that happen outside the walls of the PAC. It’s all about business sustainability for the long haul and maintaining a good relationship with change.
