THE NALPEXPERIENCE
NALP Field Trip Heads to Georgia in June
By Jill Odom
GO BEHIND THE SCENES OF RUSSELL LANDSCAPE GROUP IN ATLANTA, Georgia, on June 6-7, 2023. This event is a mix of an interactive landscape company facility tour and education sessions. Marty Grunder, CEO of Grunder Landscaping Co. and The Grow Group, will host this event and dive into the company’s operations.
Founded in 1987, Russell Landscape
Group is the largest privately owned Georgia-based commercial landscaping company. Russell Landscape Group has maintained, designed or installed many of the landscaping elements at some of Atlanta’s most iconic landmarks, HOAs, hospitals, universities and colleges. Dr. William ‘Bill’ E. Russell started the business in Norcross, Georgia, and sold the company to his son William ‘Teddy’ Russell in 2018, who assumed the role of CEO. Russell Landscape Group has grown to over 500 employees across 10 branch- es throughout the Southeast. “Our strength is in our people,” says Teddy Russell. “We are Purple People
who live out our core values each day…Faith and Family, Heart of Service, Integrity and Pursuit of Knowledge and Excellence.” During Field Trip, you will learn how this company has transitioned from one generation to the next and how they continue to embrace and adapt to growth and progress. Full registration includes education, a
reception on Tuesday evening, breakfast and lunch on Wednesday and transpor- tation between Russell Landscape Group and the hotel. Learn more about this event and

Give Back at Renewal & Remembrance 2023
By Jill Odom
THE 27TH RENEWAL & Remembrance will take place on July 17, 2023. This year’s volunteer event will be held at Arlington National Cemetery and on the National Mall.
Volunteer projects at ANC include top
dressing turf, restoring irrigation, installing lightning protection on designated trees, and various landscape and hardscape projects. Only working volunteers can attend the event at ANC due to capacity restrictions. The number of participants at ANC will be limited and based on the need for each project. Volunteers not assigned to projects at ANC will be assigned to the projects on the National Mall. Last year, volunteers created landscape
beds around the Lincoln Memorial in partnership with the Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service. This year
the National Mall service project will be held at the Washington Monument, where volunteers will complete projects including installing woodchips, seeding and planting. A Children’s Program will be available for
volunteers’ children at both project sites. There is no fee to participate, but we
do invite you to join us for the reception and dinner on Sunday evening, July 16, at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel. There is a $75 per person fee for the reception and dinner. Go to
landscapeprofessionals.org/rr to register for this event and learn more. TE
