THE NALPEXPERIENCE

“It is an amazing opportunity to challenge yourself to grow. The amount of support that you will receive here is unlike anything else you’ll receive. It’s amazing to have so many people invested in your success.” -

Maddie Frost, a senior horticulture major at Brigham Young University – Provo

It’s amazing to have so many people invested in your success.”

of fun and there’s a lot of good camara- derie that comes with those competi- tions. I don’t feel like anyone here is out to get anybody; rather, they’re here to see everybody succeed. We want to see everyone do the best of their ability with the chips falling where they lie, but out- side of that, I would say the networking opportunities and just the knowledge that you can amass from the career fair and the workshops they have here are invaluable and can’t be replaced.” For Maddie Frost, a senior at Brigham

Young University – Provo majoring in horticulture, it was her third year competing. She competed in irrigation design, sales presentation, construction cost estimating, turf and weed identifica- tion and safety first. “It is an amazing opportunity to chal-

lenge yourself to grow,” Frost says. “The amount of support that you will receive here is unlike anything else you’ll receive.

This marks the first year for Cuyahoga

Community College to take first place. The school has been steadily moving up in the Top 10 ranks over the years. They

also snapped Brigham Young University - Provo’s four-time win streak. For the full results, you can visit land- scapecompetition.org. Next year’s NCLC will be hosted at Brigham Young Univer- sity in Provo, Utah, on March 13-16, 2024. Schlemmer encourages other com-

panies to get involved as it helps get your company name out there and is a chance to represent the industry. “There are companies coming to this

that are hiring interns, hiring graduates that are ready to come into the work- force, and they’re the future leaders of our businesses in our companies,” Grover says. “I think you’re silly not to be involved in this. There are simple things you can do, like coming to the career fair and connecting with the students. Even if you don’t hire an intern from here, if you just come and connect and start to build relationships with students and help mentor them, that means a lot.” Thank you to all of our sponsors who help make NCLC possible, including platinum sponsor STIHL, gold sponsor John Deere and silver sponsors Caterpil- lar, Davey Tree Expert Company, Gravely, Heartland, Husqvarna, Proven Winners and Stanley Black & Decker.
