PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
David R. Stemp, DC, President WSCA Board of Directors
It is an honor to be writing this, as I remember when I was just a kid, listening to my dad and the rest of the Tacoma Rebels at our kitchen table, as they fought to create a new association that stood for their vision for chiropractic. I
remember the electrifying conferences we attended as a family, doctors and staff in the front of the room and kids in the back. I was just a twenty-year-old in undergrad when I attended the incredible Inauguration Gala to celebrate the creation of the WSCA (with my dad as its first president). I remember times spent in student government meetings at Life College, talking about the future of chiropractic for us Next Gen Rebels. I was a brand-new Doc when Representative Dr. Tom Campbell jumped up on a table in a room full of energized chiropractors to get Every Category of Provider Legislation passed. And I’ve been soaking up the expertise of our great chiropractic leadership over the past 8 years while serving on the executive board of the WSCA.
As my dad would say…I was anointed at an early age and I’ve loved every minute of it. I can’t begin to express how much appreciation I have for all of the incredible people who have helped guide me along the way. I have an amazing staff, family (seven chiropractors and counting), and group of friends and mentors in chiropractic who have helped me become who I am today. I know that all of that history, energy, inspiration, wisdom, kindness, and love will help me in my role as your next WSCA president!
I’d like to thank the entire WSCA board and staff and in particular, outgoing president Dr. Chad Hurst, for the job they have done over the past 18 months. Dr. Hurst has provided a spark of excitement and leadership that is an inspiration for me and the entire board. He made it his mission during his tenure to improve the profession and he succeeded beyond measure. Under his leadership we crafted and polished one of our most important legislative agendas in years. With the continued help of our incredible legislative team of Lori Grassi and Dr. Dave Butters, I plan to carry on the will and determination it will take to get our Fair Pay bill across the finish line this year.

In order to do this, we will need the continued support of our membership and chiropractic at large. When the legislative session begins, I will be calling on every chiropractor in the state to make a trip to Olympia to talk to his or her representative and tell them why we deserve fair pay. This bill is incredibly important to the survival of our profession. We must have the ability to cover the cost of rising overhead in order to keep our doors open so we can continue providing our life-changing services to our community of patients.
I can’t wait to hit the ground running and help continue the great work so many chiropractic warriors have already done to make the WSCA the best association in the country.
Thank you and Good Health, David R. Stemp DC
