Tips on Writing for the OC View

The Chapter’s Publications Committee is always looking for articles to publish in the OC View. It’s a great way to educate our members about important topics impacting community associations. It’s also a good way to share your insight and expertise without being overly self-promotional. Have you ever thought about writing an article? Here are some suggestions:
Board Members
Homeowners who live in their communities know what works and what doesn’t. Have you had success recruiting board and committee members? Do you have spectacular community social events? Are you particularly effective in keeping your members informed and engaged? What unusual problems have you solved by fashioning creative solutions? Let us know the secrets to your success.
Managers
You may have the broadest exposure to what’s taking place in community associations. Your years of experience working with various communities give you special insight into how to resolve recurring problems. Lessons learned can be shared to help associations save time by not having to “reinvent the wheel” when faced with a dilemma. Have you found graceful

contractor, painter, pool maintenance specialist, or you provide any of the other services required by associations, you have the day-to-day experience in the trenches. The detailed advice developed from your professional experience is invaluable to board members and managers. After all, you are the experts in your area of responsibility. Sharing best practices and keeping us current on the federal, state and local laws that affect all of us can save an enormous amount of time and trouble.

The Publications Committee will ensure that grammar and punctuation are correct and may also suggest additions or revisions to your article to make sure it’s easy for our readers to understand. A well-written article gives you and your organization visibility with more than 1,500 members who receive a copy of the OC View in the mail and emailed to more than 4,000 individuals.
