BITES&BRIEFS Request CDT Code Changes by November 1 C

ode change requests for CDT 2027 are due by November 1. While parties can sub- mit requests at any time to add, revise or delete codes, submissions made after that date will be addressed in the next annual maintenance cycle.

Anyone — including dentists, offi ce staff , individuals with an interest in dental coding, professional organizations and companies — can submit a request by fi lling out the offi cial form at ADA.org/CDT and emailing it to dentalcode@ada.org.

The Code Maintenance Committee will meet in March 2026 to take action on change requests, and submitters will be notifi ed of the committee’s decisions by April. Accepted changes will then appear in CDT 2027 and go into eff ect January 1, 2027.

Examples of reasons to request a new code include that a new procedure doesn’t fi t an ex- isting code; technology or materials have changed; or better accuracy is needed for docu- mentation and claims processing. According to the ADA, strong requests include a clear procedure description; supporting evidence or documentation; an explanation of how the new code would diff er from existing codes; and a rationale on why it’s needed.

Prop A Repeal Signed Into Law

H

B 567 was passed through the Missouri Legislature and signed into law by Governor Mike Kehoe

on July 10, eff ectively repealing the require- ments of Proposition A, which was passed via ballot initiative in November 2024. The bill took eff ect on August 28, 2025. There are two key provisions of the bill aff ecting private sector employers (and thus, dentists).

• Repeal of Paid Sick Leave Mandate: The bill repeals RSMo 290.600 – 290.642, which currently requires the accrual of earned paid sick time for employees in Missouri.

• Amendments to the Minimum Wage Statute: The bill also amends Mis- souri’s minimum wage statute. Under Proposition A, minimum wage would be increased or decreased based on the Consumer Price Index. This adjustment was set to take eff ect on January 1, 2027, and be re-adjusted annually. This provi- sion will still take eff ect, but the planned adjustments for 2027 and beyond were removed. On January 1, 2025, the mini- mum wage increased to $13.75 per hour. The next increase will take eff ect on January 1, 2026, raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, after which there will be no more adjustments.

While it is always recommended your legal counsel review your offi ce policies, the Mis- souri Chamber published an FAQ for busi- ness best practices as they navigate the Prop A repeal, linked at modental.org/news.
