they attend CAI or ACTHA seminars. As most of us in the industry know, a better educated board makes for a better community experience overall. Pat is the mouth piece of this message. In September 2013, Pat was asked to be on a panel to the Chicago Bar Association presenting on the topic of collection law as it relates to association dues. She was the only panelist not an attorney due to her experience in association collections.

Regardless of what is going on in her personal life, Pat has always been willing to put the needs of her clients first. Pat’s high client retention rate and customer satisfaction survey results are a testament to her commitment to being the very best this industry has to offer.

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who has consistently contributed to the development of CAI-IL in a profound way over many years.

Timothy J. Haviland has years of experience in the banking industry and works for Community Advantage, a Wintrust Company. Tim has added much value to the Chapter over the years. Tim was elected to the Board of Directors in 2009 and has become progressively more involved in Chapter development since. During his first 3-year term on the Board, Tim served as Vice President and President-Elect. In 2012, he was elected to his second 3-year term and served as President for one year, Past-President for one year, and currently serves as the Chapter’s Treasurer. Under Tim’s leadership, the Chapter developed a 3-year Strategic Guide and Business Plan and he is currently updating the plan for the next 3 years. Tim has been instrumental in the writing and submission for CAI National Awards and we have won six National Awards since 2011. Additionally, Tim has served on the Magazine Committee for many years and stepped in as Co-Chair in 2013. Tim actively serves on the Awards Committee, the Community Development Committee, and has served on the Nominating Committee. Barbara Wick Award

The Barbara Wick Award is presented to those individuals who have made significant contributions to CAI on both the local and national level.

Lou Lutz, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, owns Realty & Mortgage Co. and serves on the Membership and DCAL committees. As a veteran in the industry, Lou has taken his knowledge of community association living, as well as his passion for education, and launched the DCAL curriculum into action. Besides the fact that he is a CAI National instructor, owner of a business, and involved in many industry volunteer efforts, he found the time to write the majority of the curriculum of 7 brand new courses for this program. While doing this, he attends all of the chapter events, participates on a

volunteer level, promotes CAI effectively and contributes on multiple committees sharing his wisdom and experience. Putting this DCAL program together and developing 7 courses in 18 months was a very tall order. The committee would not have been successful in doing so without Lou’s contribution. He is decorated; he has received multiple awards and recognition over the years, and once again has proven himself to be an outstanding leader, contributor, innovator and inspiration to us all.
