Pasadena, Calif., celebrates Earth Day with goat event
Pasadena, Calif., and the One Arroyo Foundation hosted distinctive Earth Day Cele- bration on April 18, inviting the community to witness an innovative approach to landscape restoration and wildfire risk reduction. The highlight of the event was the de- ployment of approximately 600 goats into the Arroyo Seco, where they embarked on a targeted grazing mission across 100 acres to clear invasive
vegetation.This natural method not only helps protect the Arroyo but also offered a fascinating spectacle for at- tendees of all ages.
The celebration served as a platform to highlight Pasadena’s broader environmental initiatives, including clean energy, transpor- tation and storm water programs, offering residents a chance to engage with city experts and contribute to the ongoing Climate Action Plan update.
The Pasadena Earth Day Celebration underscored the collaborative spirit between the city and the One Arroyo Foundation in fostering a sustainable future. The event was a testament to the community’s commitment to preserving its natural resources and miti- gating environmental challenges. n
