region. The Hispanic population is increasing. Have YOU noticed the increase in businesses and goods targeting Spanish speakers? I am sure you have. Contrary to popular belief, most of the people I meet and work with are not migratory farm workers and laborers. They are people who have come here to build families, settle down, and contribute to the community. At IBL we have teachers, nurses, business owners, construction  We have a provisional session made up of elders from neighboring churches. These elders

provide leadership and accountability as well as a continuing voice for us in the presbytery. The church is growing, and we hope to call a church planter who can fully dedicate himself to pastoring its members and reaching the community.

What are some challenges you face? Over the last year or so we have begun to run out of space for our Sunday morning wor- ship. Our worship space can only hold around 60 people. Occasionally, we need people to sit in the foyer. We are praying that the Lord will provide a more suitable place for us to worship as we grow.

The lack of a full-time minister means that there are various aspects of ministry, outreach, and pastoral care that cannot all be covered. The members of the church have stepped up, and the church is growing, but a full-time church planter would advance the ministry of IBL.

Prayer requests for the coming season? Pray that our community outreach would grow our visibility in the city and that we would have more opportunities to share the gospel in word and deed.

Anything else you’d like to share? For our readers: Pray that the Lord would open your eyes to “see” the people in your com- munity that may not look like you and give you opportunities to get to know them. They have many of the same joys, hopes, struggles, and fears as you. As such, they need to know the same Good Shepherd as you. The only way they can know Him is if we introduce them to Him.
