Education lineup Leveling up with SIR EDGE D

on’t be afraid of the edge— jump off and experience a deep-dive, cutting-edge educational experience at SIR

EDGE 2025.

Designed with experienced IRs in mind, this year’s program, which will take place Oct. 9–11 in San Diego, off ers a fl exible, curated format that allows attendees to move seamlessly between tracks.

“I was looking for a short meeting with concentrated experience in a few topics that were important to me,” said Kyle J. Cooper, MD, FSIR, who attended SIR EDGE 2024. “The deeper dives on topics from a few key faculty meant that content was less likely to be repeated and that I would learn tips and techniques beyond the basic, which is more important to me after ten years in practice.”

Attendees can customize their learning experience by selecting the most relevant topics from amongst four highly focused courses, which will be delivered across two parallel tracks:

• Veins, veins, veins: Pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis and pelvic venous disease

• Everything embolization: Musculoskeletal, prostatic artery embolization, hemorrhoids and more

• Interventional oncology for curative intent

• Portal hypertension and complex biliary interventions

“I appreciated the small group format, which created an informal nature where it would be easier to interact with experts and colleagues,” said Drew M. Caplin, MD, FSIR, who also attended SIR EDGE 2024. “I was primarily interested in the pain portion of the conference but also liked the ability to jump into the other service lines.”

The meeting off ers an optimal setting with minimal time away and maximum benefi t to your practice and professional development, program directors say. In addition, the interactive agenda allows attendees to complete over 15 CME and an opportunity to try out devices in an intimate setting.

The hands-on opportunities were one of the highlights of last year’s meeting for Dr. Caplin.

“The hands-on portion of the conference were at a higher level than the norm which was fi tting for my skill level,” he said.

For Dr. Caplin, the 2024 meeting was not only an opportunity to advance his hands-on skills, but also a chance to expand his clinical off erings.

“It inspired me to grow my practice,” he said. “This year, we ramped up our cryoneurolysis procedures for cancer pain patients and I anticipate my fi rst basivertebral nerve ablation case as well.”

Dr. Cooper said he has also implemented techniques and clinical knowledge he

gathered in the TIPS sessions into his practice.

Both Dr. Cooper and Dr. Caplin said they recommend SIR EDGE 2025 to anyone seeking deep knowledge in an intimate, informal setting.

“It is a great way to help bring your practice to the next level,” Dr. Caplin said. “The lectures, hands-on opportunities, informal discussions and networking all pay dividends after the meeting.”
