SIR Foundation research priorities for 2026–2027


SIR Foundation has announced its research priorities for the coming year. These topics, which were suggested by the IR community and partners, have been identifi ed as areas that require further investigation, study and data.


• Cryoablation for breast cancer


• The increasing role of endovascular therapy for the treatment of common femoral artery lesions


• Opportunities for AI integration to facilitate triage and endovascular treatment access in acute ischemic stroke


• Role of locoregional therapies for oligometastatic metastatic disease


• Examination of cost eff ectiveness, quality of life, shared decision making, patient experience/PROs related and access to IR therapies in the genitourinary space (ablation, PAE, varicocele, pelvic congestion, PCN, etc), particularly in comparison to traditional therapies


• Determining the role of established and emerging IR techniques in the treatment of pediatric desmoid tumors
