President’s Message

Hello Chapter Members! Well, how did it get to be September already? Time for back-to-school, back to routines and the beginning of fall. I am not

quite ready to say goodbye to summer yet though. I’m hoping the good weather lasts a little longer, since we got a late start this year. My favorite thing to do in September is to attend the Washington State Fair (the Puyallup Fair)! I have never missed a year (except when it was closed in 2020) and usually go multiple times during the 23 days it’s open. It’s a family tradition that I grew up with and that I’ve passed along to my family. We’ve had the big black and white button family picture taken for 20 years. The buttons now line my wall.

WSCAI has recently hosted some great summer events. The golf tournament was a sold-out event with wonderful weather, and the kickball tournament was a blast! It’s great to see so many people get involved in these outdoor activities. There is one more event you don’t want to miss… The 5K for LAC will be held on September 20th at Bridle Trails State Park in Kirkland, starting at 8:30am. It’s a fun, healthy way to get people together to walk, run (or both) and it helps raise money for our Legislative Action Committee (LAC).

September events include the Managers Only Meeting, Part 2 to July’s ”EV Charging Station” webinar. Register for events on our website. By the way, keep an eye out for our biggest event of the year, Community Associations (CA) Day. This year’s educational convention

and trade show will be Saturday, October 15th at the Seattle Convention Center. There will be over one hundred booths, and 12 classes you won’t want to miss! Register today so you don’t miss the opportunity!

Speaking of our website, that’s a great place to find your next contractor, community manager, or any other service provider you might be looking for. It’s great to use our fellow members who specialize in community associations.

On a personal note, last month my husband Danny and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, and then traveled to New York two days later to take Jessie, our daughter, back to college. It was a special trip since our son Justin and his girlfriend joined us as well. We packed a lot into five days, biking around Central Park, seeing a Broadway Play (Hamilton), watching the sunset from a 100-story building (the

Edge at Hudson Yards), and experiencing the city by foot, subway, bus, and taxi. It’s a great place to visit. There are so many things to do, see and EAT there!

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and I hope to see you at an event soon!
