Amy Clements, CIRMS, ARM is a Washington State native, born in Pullman, WA. Most of her earlier years were spent in the East Coast in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. She attended Hood College in Frederick, MD and began her insurance career shortly after graduation. Since 2005, Amy has worked with CAU and is a past volunteer on the Education Committee and currently serving on the Business Partners and Communications Committees with WSCAI. Her focus is promoting and participating in educational opportunities to those involved

with community associations. Amy co-wrote “Summer Olympics in Your Community Association” with Jackie Cleveland.

Jacqueline M. Cleveland, CMCA, AMS®

is a Senior Community Association Manager and the Manager Education Chair at Kappes Miller Management, LLC. She is currently co-editor of the WSCAI Community Associations Journal, training for another half marathon, and planning a month-long European trek in the fall. In this issue, she co-writes with Amy Clements on sports amenities, Olympic athletes, and how they all correlate with managing our state’s common interest communities.

Rob Guyott

writes about Community Trail Systems in his article, “Trilogy at Redmond Ridge: Trotting Trails and Creating Community.” He is a Community Association Manager for HOAMCO and the Operations Director at Trilogy at Redmond Ridge. Rob has managed homeowner associations for over 8 years and has been involved with multi-family real estate since 2002. He is an avid fly-fisher, loves the outdoors and wishes he had time for a puppy. If Rob is not at work, you will find him spending time with family and

friends, standing in a river or browsing French Bulldog rescue sites. If you have a French Bulldog that you are willing to donate please contact him immediately.

Blair Hanson

discusses ordinance and law coverage in his article. Blair is a Vice President at Adjusters International, the oldest and most successful Public Adjusting firm in America. Blair is licensed in 8 states and has been involved in hundreds of large insurance losses. Public Adjusters represent the interests of the insured in major property losses.

Ken Harer, JD, RS, CCAL

is the managing attorney at Condominium Law Group, PLLC. He has degrees in architecture, business and law from the University of Washington. He has worked with condominiums as an attorney on all types of legal work, including construction defect litigation, since 2000. Ken contributes the article “Stuck in the Rough: Golf Course Communities Face Challenges.”

Terry Leahy, Esq., CCAL

brings us “A Microtopian Existence” in this issue. Terry is ideally suited by training, experience and disposition to guide community associations through challenging times with advice which blends common sense and innovation to create effective, enduring solutions. A Puget Sound native, he graduated from Seattle Prep, Washington State University, the University of Arizona College of Law and the University of Washington Mediation Program.

Jerry Ringenberg, AMS

is the Building Manager of Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue, a luxury high-rise next to the Pike Place Market. Based on his extensive experience of on-site work and portfolio management, he co-authored the article regarding Elevator Modernization Projects “The Ups and Downs of Elevators” with Pat Rooney. When he is not stuck in an elevator, Jerry is often found doing home improvements to his house on Bainbridge Island.

Patrick J. Rooney, CMCA, AMS, PCAM

is the Community Manager of Providence Point, a large 55+ condominium community with 1008 units located in the Issaquah Highlands. Providence Point will be hosting a PCAM case study this summer. Pat currently serves as a delegate on the Washington State Legislative Action Committee. He was 2014 Recruiter of the Year for WSCAI. He has been in Community Management for over 30 years. Pat co-wrote “The Ups and Downs of Elevators” article with Jerry Ringenberg for this issue. Providence Point has 13 elevators

throughout the community. Pat has significant experience in the management of elevators. Jerry H. Stein, Esq.

discusses attorney-client privilege in this issue. Jerry is the founding partner of Stein, Sudweeks & Houser, a Seattle law firm focusing on the resolution of insurance coverage and construction defect disputes. Over the last 25 years, his firm has recovered over 270 million dollars on behalf of Pacific Northwest Condominium Associations and apartment owners. He is a graduate of UCLA School of Law, has more than 35 years of experience in this area of law, and has taken over 30 cases to trial.
