President’s Message Jeremy Stillwell, Chapter President
For many of us June represents the start of summer with longer days, and the smell of cut grass and BBQs in the warming air. June is also a big month for WSCAI. The Chapter Luncheon on June 21 is a marquee event. For those of you that haven’t attended a Chapter Luncheon, or haven’t attended in some time, you’re missing
out on some wonderful networking and educational opportunities. The room will be filled with the “Who’s Who” of the community association industry and it is the perfect atmosphere for meeting new and staying in touch with current members. We had record attendance at our first Chapter Luncheon of the year and look forward to seeing you later this month.
This past month, several of our WSCAI members attended the CAI National Conference in Orlando, Florida. Meeting with chapter and industry leaders from other states is great for networking and idea gathering. It’s also a great reminder of the strengths of our Chapter, in particular our educational programs. It’s easy to take for granted the quality and depth of the educational programs that our Chapter puts on, most of which are taught by volunteer professionals who put a lot of time, effort and energy into the programs offered. Without these volunteers, WSCAI couldn’t offer quality programs for the incredible value of current pricing for all of its members.
While education is a cornerstone of WSCAI, the summer months also bring a host of social and networking events for our members. We’re not all work and no play by any means. Our annual golf tournament is the perfect venue for both (real) golfers and those who once or twice a year, enjoy swinging metal sticks at small dimpled balls in the sunshine (or a torrential downpour if you remember a few years back). At any rate, there’s a chance that the golf tournament will be sold out prior to press time for this issue. Check with the chapter office to find out what’s still available in terms of golfing and sponsorship opportunities.
Enjoy the articles featured in this month’s issue. We have excellent writers offering insight on interesting and thought provoking topics. On that note, we are always looking for new and exciting topics and encourage all members to submit topic ideas. Even if you don’t have a great deal of writing experience, our Communications Committee can help you get a topic from concept and rough draft to published material.
Lastly, I encourage you to check back the WSCAI website regularly. The online events calendar is key to keeping up with Chapter social and educational events and there is a lot of information available on the site with just a click. We would also like to get member input on how we might improve the website. We’ll be evaluating possible changes in the second half of this year and would appreciate any and all ideas. Please reach out to the Chapter office with any feedback.
Enjoy the summer!
