President’s Message
Hello WSCAI Members! Spring has FINALLY arrived and it’s time to hit the garden. I am an
avid gardener so now is the time for me to pull the endless weeds,
add compost to the beds, plant some annuals and get rid of the moss in the grass. There is so much work to do this time of year for the beautiful result in a few months! While working in the yard, I am going to take some advice from Tim Hawkins who wrote the article on Landscape Maintenance and Pest Control. Now if I can just help keep the deer from eating all my dahlias, roses, and hostas again this year, I would be set. Last year they took out nearly 40 varieties of dahlias! My husband caught them in the act as he took a “cute video” of the whole thing and sent it to me–ugh! I was not happy!
I also picked up some great tips from Vanessa Tilberg in her article about Spring Cleaning, Maintenance and Upkeep. installed, with a great chart that shows all the pros and cons. Most of our associations have playgrounds so you don’t want to miss Sandy Cobb’s article on Playground Inspections and the fun article and photos that the Communications Committee put together on Playgrounds Throughout History. Mary Reiten gives us the facts about want to read Karen McDonald’s article on 10 Reserve Study Mistakes that associations make and how to avoid them. It can save you a lot of headaches.

Spring is a time for baseball (and softball)! I look forward to New York City to watch my daughter play softball at college this month. I can’t wait! We miss seeing her play on a regular
During the winter months, when we had the snow and really cold weather, I decided to start feeding the birds in my backyard. I cleaned up the hummingbird feeders and bought a big bird feeder for the others. It has brought me so much joy watching all the different varieties of birds outside my window. It has been worth the huge mess it leaves every day. The photo I included this month is a up to the feeder. It was so cute, I had to share.
