Contributing Writers William Cameron, Esq.


is an attorney who has worked with the Salmon Beach community in Tacoma. His article illustrates Salmon Beach as an example of cooperative living. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Washington in 1968 and graduated from Gonzaga Law School in 1975 Magna Cum Laude. He has extensive experience in municipal law, appellate practice, insurance defense, construction law, public nuisances, professional malpractice and employment and labor law.


Georgianna Chamberlain, CMCA, AMS


is a Community Association Manager with CWD Group and an avid Urban Farmer living in Seattle. Georgianna is a portfolio manager with properties through the downtown core. She specializes in complicated multi-association properties with partnerships with Seattle Housing Authority, the Fort Lawton Landmark District as well as the Historic Districts Department of Seattle. She is co-author of the article “Urban Farming: Cows and Goats and Chickens, Oh My!”


Roger Cushman Edwards


is the great-great-grandson of Joseph “Old Cush” Cushman, who arrived in Olympia, Washington Territory, in 1852. Roger bought his first cabin at Salmon Beach in 1962, is the chairman of the Salmon Beach Historical Society, and spearheaded the movement to have Salmon Beach declared a state historic district. The Tacoma Historic Society presented its Murray Morgan Award to Roger for significant achievement in recording and communicating local history on April 13, 2009. He

is a Certified Manager of Community Associations with a history of successfully working with community associations in the Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Renton and Kent area. She is currently a general manager for a multi-faceted community in Bellevue with 20 years of prior portfolio management experience. She shares her experience as an urban chicken owner in this issue.


Tim Jergens


is the president and owner of L.C. Jergens Painting Company. In this issue, he discusses proactive maintenance on paint projects. Jergens Painting is a union shop that has been in business for 50 years. They perform residential, commercial, multi-family and shop finishing projects. Tim has lived and worked in the Seattle area his entire life and is a member of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. and the Western Washington Painters Trust.


Lesley Lueke, Esq.


is an attorney and Legal Project Manager at Condominium Law Group, PLLC. She coordinates the general legal workflow and advises condominiums and HOAs on legal issues and revising governing documents. A Midwest native, Lesley graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law and practiced in Chicago for three years before relocating to Seattle in 2015.


Allison Peryea, Esq.


is a shareholder with Leahy McLean Peryea, which is located in downtown Seattle and serves primarily community association clients. She is the chair of the WSCAI Communications Committee and past editor of the WSCAI’s Community Associations Journal. She is also the chair of the Washington State Bar Association Editorial Advisory Committee and a member of the WSBA Judicial Recommendation Committee. In this issue, Allison she discusses the federal flood insurance surcharge.


Erik M. Rivera, CMCA, AMS, PCAM


is the Founder, President and CEO of StrataNext, Inc., a strategic real estate management firm headquartered in downtown Seattle. He has successfully guided several multi- million dollar remediation, capital improvement and construction defect projects to completion. Erik currently serves as a delegate on the WSCAI Legislative Action Committee, and is a member of the WSCAI Law Day Committee. He provides a manager’s perspective on “Educating Yourself About Construction” in this issue.


Doug Sage


contributes a consultant’s perspective to the article “Educating Yourself about Construction.” He is the managing principal at GSG Group, Inc., a Seattle-area construction management firm that specializes in guiding community associations throughout the Pacific Northwest during capital repairs and improvements. Doug taught construction-project management at the University of Washington for ten years, has served as a board member for his resort condominium association, and


sits on its Architectural Review Committee. Carmen Rowe, Esq.


co-authors an article about urban gardening in associations in this issue. Carmen started Gryphon Law Group PS with locations in Seattle, Lacey and Chehalis. She grew up in Tacoma, is a PLU grad, and came back after living in Norway and obtaining her J.D. from Columbia Law. With big firm experience from Manhattan and Seattle, Carmen also knows about living with nature. She has a 20-acre working farm in Chehalis (Angus and small livestock), and raises and works Alaskan Malamutes.


Carmen’s practice focuses on business and real estate, a natural base for her association practice.
