The Foundation for Play Therapy has made it possible for young professionals to attend the Annual APT International Conference by providing educational scholarships over the past three years. The Association for Play Therapy will take the next step in developing the professional skills of play therapists by introducing a Mentorship Program in Spring of 2023. By partnering with a professional
mentorship and coaching company, and using methodologies that are research and evidence based, APT will assist members as they connect and build strong relationships to guide mentees toward their future goals and develop emerging leaders.
The Mentorship Program has been suggested by Leadership Academy classes over the past 4 years, and APT is ready to make it a reality. A pilot program will match 20 pairs of Mentors and Mentees and include training for all parties to ensure a successful and meaningful program. Mentorship areas will be broad and inclusive. Mentees will second career, school setting, etc.), and will be connected with expert Mentors in their area of focus. Mentors, mentees, and the organization retention, and improves diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional development.
