Leadership Academy
Would you like to engage more effectively with governance and colleagues within and outside of APT? Leadership development is a critical
on-going priority in every organization committed to the long-term advancement of the trade or profession of its members. By completing the APT Leadership
Academy program, you will develop and contribute the elevated leadership perspectives necessary to ensure the viability of play therapy and APT for decades to come. You will learn how APT is structured,
operated, and financed. You will also explore the Policy Governance© Model that defines the roles and responsibilities of governance, management, and stakeholders. The Model is a progressive system of governance that has redefined the roles
upward and outward, thereby generating more long-term value for members. Comprising five two-part
assignments, facilitated by CEO Kathy Lebby, the academy explores leadership attributes, APT and its policies and programs, the Policy Governance© Model, and, because APT is a virtual organization, how it conducts its daily business online. All members of the APT and
Foundation for Play Therapy board of directors, most APT committee chairs and members, and many Branch presidents are among its 268 Leadership Academy graduates. The path to APT leadership positions
and responsibilities of governance, management, and stakeholders to better align expertise with assigned duties. It then allows the policy board to focus
