Anonymous Tips Information on the Every Track Legislation in Your
Student Succeeds Act The Office of Non-Public Education (ONPE) at the U.S. Department of Education held two helpful and informative webinars in January on the private school provisions in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Each webinar highlighted changes in ESSA that relate to equitable services in Title I and Title VIII of ESEA. USDE staff did an excellent job explaining the new provisions in clear and concise language.
The webinars are archived on the ONPE ESSA Web page (
https://innovation.ed.gov/what-we-do/non- publiceducation/essa/), which already contains an abundance of valuable resources to help education leaders understand how the new law will affect students and teachers in private schools.

At least two children have had fingers amputated after accidents involving Playworld Lightning Slides, which are now being recalled. The Lightning Slide’s weld can crack, leaving a space for children’s fingers to be caught.
The slides, sold from 2000–2016, have no identifiable markers, so some schools may unknowingly have one. Because Playworld sold the slides through third-party distributors, the company does not have comprehensive records of schools that purchased the slides. More information, including pictures of the slides, may be found at
https://playworld.com/slide-safety-alert. The company is offering free replacements and installation.
Private Schools Need to find out the state regulations for private schools in your state? The U.S. Department of Education provides an interactive map where you can click on your state and find out the private school laws and regulations for that state. This can be a very helpful guide to help Christian schools know the laws that are particular to them in their home state. See the map at
